A Child is Born in Bethlehem

A Christmas Carol
By R.P. Woitowitz Sr.

When I first let Jesus into my heart I was filled with a joy that I could never put into words.  I wonder if everyone is the same way when they accept Christ into their lives?   I remember the day and how I came to be at church and how I walked up when that call came and gave over my life to be used for His will and to be at His service.

Then Christmas came along.

I had always had those warm fuzzy feelings that each of us has during this time of year. However this time it was a bit different.  It was like for the first time in my life that all the traditional Christmas carols became more than just words that I learned when I was a child.  They had a new and deeper meaning to me now, and I felt as if I was privy to some wonderful secret knowledge that no one else had found.

Of course that wasn’t so, but it sure felt that way to me.

One song in particular gave me pause to think and realize that THIS was what the whole meaning of Christmas was about and why it was that our Heavenly Father sent His Son into to the world.

The song is titled “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” and the line that struck me so with awe is:

“God and Sinners reconciled.”

While the song is a testament to all that Jesus came into the world to do for each of us it is the above line that give me the most joy, for it states quite plainly, as does our Heavenly Father has said, that we are reconciled to Him, we are forgiven, and we have been given grace by Him.

This year then let each of resolve to remember the why God sent His Son to earth so that each of us can be as the prodigal son, come home to our Father.
