God and Sinners Reconciled

"Hark the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled"

By now, it is clear that our economy is in a down cycle. There are many folks that are struggling and hurting this holiday season and it hurts me to see that this is occurring in our nation. However, to coin a phrase, every cloud has a silver lining.

One might wonder what that silver lining might indeed be, and one would be justified in asking me. Well for starters, I believe one should remember that according to Ecclesiastes 3:1

“To all things there is an appointed time, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. “

Basically, this is stating that there are times for which God has determined for His own reasons that things happen in this world. Moreover, I am of an opinion that this is His way of reminding us what is important about this time of year.

It is not the glitter, nor the presents, or even so much the concept that this is a time of giving. Although I would admit here that, the time of giving ranks a bit higher than either of the former two mentioned in the prior sentence. Did not our Heavenly Father give HIS best to all of us in His son Jesus Christ?

As such, and this is what is most important, is that our Savior was born. Therefore by his birth, God’s plan to reconcile us to Himself, was set into motion.

So I am asking all of us to take time and reflect on this coming Christmas day, that as I stated above that there is INDEED a time and purpose for everything and in my humble opinion this our time to be thankful for God’s most precious gift to us, His Son.

I leave you all with the glad tidings as recorded by Luke;

8 ¶ And there were in the same country shepherds, abiding in the field, and keeping watch by night over their flock.

9 And lo, the Angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone about them, and they were sore afraid.

10 Then the Angel said unto them, Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you glad tidings of great joy, that shall be to all the people,

11 That is, that unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12 And this shall be a sign unto you, Ye shall find the babe swaddled, and laid in a crèche.

13 And straightway there was with the Angel a multitude of heavenly soldiers, praising God, and saying,

14 Glory be to God in the high heavens, and peace in earth, and towards men good will.

Author’s Note:

All quotes were copied from the Geneva Bible. The Geneva Bible is a wonderful source as it was the version that was used and carried over by the Pilgrims when they came to the new world. This particular site has their original study notes included in most of the texts. I would recommend to my readers, in particular those that have been recently saved, that they use this version, (yes the English is older, but it is well worth the effort), as they, (the Pilgrim elders), have so many wonderful insights
