A song of degrees.

1 I lift up mine eyes to thee, that dwellest in the
heavens.
2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the
hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden
unto the hand of her mistress: so our eyes wait upon
the Lord our God, until he have mercy upon us. (a)
3 Have mercy unto us, O Lord, have mercy upon
us: for we have suffered too much contempt.
4 Our soul is filled too full of the mocking of the
wealthy, and of the despitefulness of the proud. (b)

(a) Verses 1 - 2
Editor’s thought - In verse two we see that the Psalmist refers to keeping one’s eyes upon God. He makes note and equates them as servants, which of course we do, that is to say, serve Him. I find myself thinking that it means to not take our eyes off of the fullness and blessings of our Lord.
Psalm 2:4
But he that dwelleth in the heaven shall laugh:
the Lord shall have them in derision.
Psalm 11:4
The Lord is in his holy palace; the Lord’s throne
is in the heaven; his eyes will consider; his eyelids
will try the children of men.
Psalm 25:15 - 20
15 Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord: for he will
bring my feet out of the net.
16 Turn thy face unto me, and have mercy upon
me: for I am desolate and poor.
17 The sorrows of mine heart 1are enlarged: draw
me out of my troubles.
18 Look upon mine affliction and my travel, and
forgive all my sins.
19 Behold mine 1enemies, for they are many, and
they hate me with cruel hatred.
20 Keep my soul and deliver me: let me not be
confounded: for I trust in thee.
Psalm 115:3
But our God is in heaven: he doeth whatsoever
he will.
Psalm 141:8 - 9
8 But mine eyes look unto thee, O Lord God: in
thee is my trust: leave not my soul destitute.
9 Keep me from the snare, which they have laid for
me, and from the gins of the workers of iniquity.

(b) Verses 3 - 4
Job 12:4
I am as one mocked of his neighbor, who
calleth upon God, and he 2heareth him: the just and
the upright is laughed to scorn
Psalm 22:7 - 8
7 All they that see me, have me in derision: they
make a mow and nod the head, saying,
8 He trusted in the Lord, let him deliver him:
let him save him, seeing he loveth him
Isaiah 23:9
The Lord of hosts hath decreed this, to stain
the pride of all glory, and to bring to contempt all
them that be glorious in the earth.
Lamentations 1:7 - 8
7 Jerusalem remembered the days of her affliction,
and of her rebellion, and all her pleasant things
that she had in times past, when her people 1fell into
the hand of the enemy, and none did help her: the
adversary saw her, and did mock at her 2Sabbaths.
8 Jerusalem hath grievously sinned, therefore
she is in derision: all that honored her, despise her,
because they have seen her filthiness: yea, she sigheth,
and turneth backward.
Mark 5:39 - 40
39 And he went in, and said unto them, Why make
ye this trouble, and weep? the child is not dead,
but sleepeth.
40 And they laughed him to scorn: but he put
them all out, and took the father, and the mother of
the child, and them 2that were with him, and entered
in where the child lay,
